Toban Bradlynn

Acoustical Consultant, HGC Noise Vibration Acoustics

As an acoustical consultant and member of the Built Environment division at HGC Noise Vibration Acoustics, Toban has dedicated his career to optimizing acoustic environments, notably within the realm of mass timber. He has delved deep into the nuances of CLT structures, backed by extensive field testing of its direct sound transmission properties, both airborne and impact, including the development of leading-edge solutions to its associated challenges. Beyond direct sound, Toban actively collaborates with ISO committees, pushing the boundaries of field-testing standards and calculation methods for flanking (indirect sound transmission), and has successfully assisted multiple projects in keeping mass timber panels continuous across demising assemblies while still meeting building code requirements through various techniques. Toban is a pioneer in the world of sound transmission testing in CLT structures, including conducting some of the first sets of Kij tests in the field to evaluate the in-situ indirect sound transmission of spanning CLT panels. He believes that beautiful design and excellent acoustics can, and should, go hand-in-hand, assisting in the design of spaces that are both visually stunning and acoustically comfortable.
