Designing Mass Timber Hybrids – An Engineer’s Perspective
Mass timber is often used in hybrid structures that incorporate a range of other materials: concrete, CMU, structural steel, cold-formed steel, and even light wood frame. These buildings encompass a wide variety of scales and types, providing a diverse set of examples of how using the right material in the right place can be a successful strategy to incorporate mass timber into projects. This session will cover project case studies and help attendees understand when hybrid construction makes sense for a project’s budget and goals.
