Bobby Cannavino, R.A. is an Associate Principal at Studio Ma, a Phoenix based architecture firm known for its collaborative, socially equitable, and ecologically restorative design solutions. Bobby plays an integral role in guiding multidisciplinary teams through all phases of architectural design and project delivery—from early concept development through construction documentation and implementation.

Bobby’s design philosophy emphasizes context sensitive, sustainable architecture that nurtures human connections and environmental resilience. He is interested in using the built environment as a means of understanding and responding to larger issues of climate change and social justice. Under his leadership, Studio Ma’s projects have gained acclaim for their thoughtful integration into their social and natural surroundings, setting high standards in Arizona and beyond.

Bobby manages many of Studio Ma’s significant projects, including work for the Bureau of Overseas Building Operations and Washington University in St. Louis. He recently led the Department of State research into the application of mass timber and rammed earth in diplomatic facilities as well as heat, water stress, and climate resiliency research. During his career, Bobby has also fabricated gallery installations and exhibitions that address the issues of the Anthropocene, including climate adaptation and the preservation of natural resources.

He is deeply committed to community engagement and mentorship. As a volunteer mentor for the ACE Mentor Program in Phoenix, Bobby shares his expertise and passion with aspiring architects, engineers, and builders—helping shape the next generation of design professionals.
