Pat Layton
Professor & Director, Wood Utilization & Design Institute, Clemson University
Dr. Patricia A. Layton, Ph.D., Clemson, SC, is an associate in the Wood Utilization + Design Institute. She is the emerita Director of the Institute and Professor of Forestry. She held several administrative positions at Clemson including Director of the School of Agricultural, Forest, and Environmental Sciences and Chaired both the Department of Forest Resources and the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources.
Before joining Clemson University, she was a Senior Director with the American Forest & Paper Association where she represented the industry in the area of recycling, life cycle analysis, sustainability, and energy.
Prior to that Pat was a Manager at Scott Paper Company, where she served as the forest policy and technical lead on all of Scott Paper’s international forestry investments and opportunities.
Pat is a native of South Carolina and has forestry degrees from Clemson University, Texas A&M University, and the University of Florida. She is the VP of BlackBriar Environmental LLC and serves on the Board for the Sustainable Forestry Association.
