Associate Principal, Mahlum

Joe Mayo is a Seattle-based architect at Mahlum and a leading authority on biophilic, low-carbon school design. Author of Solid Wood: Mass Timber Architecture, Technology and Design, he has delivered over a dozen pioneering mass timber projects, including some of the first 3 and 4-story mass timber schools in the PNW. He has led multiple funded research initiatives advancing understanding on wood’s health and performance impacts in learning environments.
